Spring Concert Series: Beatles Tribute--Saginaw Brass Quintet

This area brass ensemble will rock the Library with a complete Beatles tribute concert.

 

The Saginaw Brass Quintet is a talented and versatile ensemble of two trumpets, a French horn, a trombone, and a tuba. From brilliant fanfare to ambient background music, the Saginaw Brass Quintet initially converged back in December of 2006.

 

Brandon Jerashen - Trumpet - B.A. in music from SVSU. A member of SBQ since 2013. He performs with the Midland Community Orchestra and is the substitute conductor of the orchestra. He is the conductor of the Saginaw Legacy Band. He teaches vocal and instrumental music at North Saginaw Charter Academy. He has received the Rhea Miller scholarship in music award; awarded 2 Musician of the Year awards while attending SVSU; and received the Outstanding Senior in Music Education Award.

 

Doug Schuller - Trumpet - A member of SBQ since 2014. He performs with the Saginaw Area

Concert Band and the Tri-City Trumpets. He is a founding member of the classic rock/blues band, The Anechoics. He has an Engineering degree from the University of Nebraska, where he also studied music composition. Doug is a talented composer and arranger of many of our pieces. He is occasionally a vocal soloist with the quintet.

 

Keith Kidder - Trombone - A charter member of SBQ. He has performed as a soloist and

member of the Saginaw Choral Society. He currently is a member of Exultaté Deo Chamber Choir, and Saginaw's First Congregational Church Chancel and Bell Choirs, and has performed as a vocal soloist with the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band. He has an engineering degree from MSU.

 

William Ostler - Horn— A charter member of SBQ. He is a present member of the Midland

Community Orchestra, Harbor Springs Community (summer) Band, and founder and member of the Mid-Michigan Horn Club. He has performed with numerous orchestras, bands and chamber groups. Member of the International Horn Society. He has a teaching minor in music from Alma College.

 

Jason Maurer - Tuba - B.A., M.M. degrees in classical piano performance from Central

Michigan University. He is an adjunct music faculty piano accompanist at SVSU. A member of the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band, and the Bay Concert Band. He performs with area bands New Brass Express and One More Shot on electric bass and keyboards. He serves as the organist/pianist for twoSaginaw churches. He was an Irwin Piano Competition winner and a Concerto/Aria competition winner.

 

Steve Nyquist - Drums - B.A. in Music Education from SVSU. A freelance drummer in the Great Lakes Bay area. He has performed with the Saginaw Choral Society, Saginaw Area Concert

Band, Jeff Hall Trio, and the Pit and Balcony Theatre.
